Do any of you happen to know if the auger bits sold at Tractor Supply will fit the gear box on my Lienbach 7300? I need a new bit for mine and if they fit I'd like to try the TSC one because it looks like it's got a better pilot on it to help start the bit into the ground.

No, the Lienbach uses an oddball tip and cutting teeth combination, only the Lienbach will fit it. The cutting teeth/pilot was the downside of the Lienbach augers when we tested them.

I'm not looking to change out my tip only, but the complete auger bit. I looked at them at TSC today and took some measurements. The spacing on the bolt holes is 3/4" and 2 3/4" on the Leinbach as measured from the top of the bit. The one at TSC is 1" and 3". So the spacing between the two holes is the same, I've just got to see if when the Leinbach bit was bolted up to my gear box it had an extra 1/4 of clearance on the shaft. The Leinbach auger bits are weak at the point where they bolt onto the gear box, so far I've had two break in that location. John

You could always cut 1/4" off from the top of the TSC model to gain the 1/4" difference. Did you check the shaft diameters too?? That would be a problem if there was more than 1/8" play between the shaft and the recessed area on the bit.

Sorry, I misunderstood, yes, the augers will interchange. Should use the same gearbox. The DP augers that some TSC stores sell may/may not interchange depending on the guards on the Lienbach... The new "Fieldmaster" augers are reinforced where you are breaking the Lienbach augers.

I twisted mine off there and just cut it off and drilled two sets of holes lower on the auger shaft. The next time I twisted the auger in half right where the flanges on the 12" auger stop on the auger shaft. I bought a "no name" 12" auger used from a roadside farm shop a year or so ago and it worked on my 7400. So far, so good. You're right though, the auger is the weak point. The gear box has taken some abuse and I've not had any issues.

I bought one of the auger bits at TSC and it bolted right up to my Lienbach PHD. This bit is much better than what Lienbach sells. As some of you mentioned where it bolts up to the gearbox is reinforced and is about 3 x the thickness of the Lienbach PHD. It's also got a better cutting edge and it looks like the pilot on this one will help keep the bit from dancing around as much at the Lienbach did.
