You will find this stuff helpful when you build your third one also. Your going to need a 4 way splitter, log lift, table to split out on,overhead winch to drag the big pieces to you, larger cylinder for ram,new pump for more gpm, and more hp for the larger pump. Enjoy the process.

Welcome to the addiction!!

Post a little info about your build. beam and cylinder size, pump and engine combo, wedge design and what ever else you plan on using. I am a nut case when it comes to all the possible designs, Cant get enough of all the different ideals that seem to always come with a new build.

Check out my Log splitter idea. I have not posted much, and have yet to have a comment on it. I was hoping for a little interaction with the board. This is one of my first "builds" of anything. It's 90% done. I have ran about 1 chord of wood through it. Just today my weld finally broke. I wasn't surprised. It will be an easy fix to have a master welder redo a couple of my crucial welds. I'm no welder, and this was mostly a trial and error to see table placement, clearances, enough power, valve and hose placement would work? I would change little! I LOVE the two way blade/wood table, and the huge 6+" cylinder cuts through anything! The 22gpm pump is nice, but I think with two way I would step down the pump one size. That's a LOT of hydraulic fluid to pull around with a small atv. Enjoy:)

I used 5' of heavy duty I-Beam with a stationary 2-way wedge welded vertically. ,Then cut another approx. 2' I-beam, laid it sideways and cut a 1 1/2" slot through the middle sliding atop the first I-beam. This "table" beam moves back and fourth with the 6" cylinder rod, cutting both directions. The "table" simply has a 1" plate welded both sides and I sit the log rounds onto it and "catch" the wood both directions and throw them back in front of the 2 way blade.
