Window tint film

I'm looking to tint the windows in my 1660 cab, does anyone know a good supplier for wide tint film, or any advice on how dark to go. I have read the threads on here and there are mixed reviews on tint darkness, I'm thinking of going with 35% all the way around.

I tried applying film on my Chevy pickup in the mid 70's and I didn't perform such a good job. After several months, the film was all wrinkled. I was told by a friend that I didn't get all the air bubbles out. Best wishes.

If it is for his tractor he should be OK, on a truck different story.

I'm no expert on window tinting but I believe I can do it, I've tinted flat windows in my house but I have been told that the curved glass of tractor cabs poses a challenge...I do not want any air bubbles in it either.

I have installed tinting on some windows myself over the years and the last auto we applied tinting to found a local shop was very reasonable to hire it done.

I tinted the windows and storm door of our home that are exposed to the sun; went pretty good. One ex- window tint guy told me to try & get the tint from a glass shop, or such, avoid the discount store tint. The tint from a specialized tinting place is thicker, higher quality, easier to work with. He was right; however, in the middle of my home tint, I had to have the windshield in my eighteen wheeler replaced. Around $265 + $75 for the "eyebrow" (this is what they call the 6"-8" of tint at the very top of the windshield.) About a month later I traded the truck; decided to do the eyebrow myself, save $75.......After ruining about $100 of tint that was destined for a couple of home windows, along with elevated level of frustration, plus add the fact that because of this project, my neighbors that live on the other side of our ten acres now know that I have a very large vocabulary of curse words, I have decided that $75 is not a bad price for a (insert lots of curse words) eyebrow! I was later told that:
(1) The thicker tint is very hard to put on curved windshields.
(2) Installing ANY tint on curved glass is almost an art.

We have just ordered another tractor, this one with a cab; When I "thought aloud" about tinting the glass on it, wife said wait til she mentions the upcoming project to the neighbors, they may pay to have a professional come out & do it.

I tinted the rear windows on my tractor with 97% light and heat blockage tint and although it looks really good I should have done the back window with tint that was a lesser percentage cause even in mid day sun when I have help with hooking things up to the three point they can't see me in the cab to give directions.

Window tinting is not that hard if you have the right tools. My suggestion to you is watch some videos on YOUTUBE as to how it's done. For compound curves you will need a heat gun to mold the tint to the window. Professionals actually apply the tinting to the outside while they are preparing it to be applied. On high quality tint there two sides to peel off before final application. My suggestion is to use a % that a silhouette of you can be seen. Use the same that would be legal on an automobile. Police like to see what the person is doing in a car before approaching it. Tinting doesn't have to be limo dark to be effective. Just a slight tint will knock down a huge % of heat. JMHO. -Robert
