ok.. every morning at work I open up my windows mail and some explorer tabs. I have my mail set to poll about every 10 minutes.

computer has been setup this way at work since I got it.

I'm browsing in a window when i get a pop up from windows mail. it can't login to my mail box.. wants my user id and password.
I clear out and manually clck send/recieve. same deal.. when canceling, I can see the error log that no user account info was supplied?

what gives.. how does MS mail just loose you $&% account settings on the fly?!?!

and yeah.. it was a mail pop up.. not a trojan or something else. seen it before.. it's done this at least a couple times in the past... computer alzheimers or something?!?!?

Sounds like virus or spyware -- get it checked out --- NOW !

Check your Outlook settings:

Select Tools -> E-mail
Accounts menu option. (depending on your version of Outlook this option might be found under Tools -> Options -> Mail

Setup tab -> E-mail Accounts button)
The "View or change existing e-mail accounts" item should be already selected. Click "Next".

Select the account you want to modify and click "Change".
In the next screen, click "Remember password" in the "Logon Information" section in the lower left corner.

Then click "Next" or "OK" as necessary to confirm.

Also you can check with your network admin team and see if it is a server side problem with Windows Authentication. Good Luck

not spyware or virus, as said. i'm running kasparsky, and just for the heck of it, used another we had at work.. nothing found. it is truly a windows mail issue.

going to the accout options shows blank info where my username and password used to be, with the lil checkbox checked to remember.

one I put it in.. it will be fine for oh.. a month.. then do it again.

weird..

This same thing happened on my Mother-in-Law's computer with windows mail. I set her up a gmail account in windows mail and after a few months it starting doing the same thing that you are describing. I found that if I logged into gmail through the web browser after that windows mail would work for a while.

Finally ended up contacting google about it and after a week or so the problem went away. I would have to assume it was something on their end.

YARKS! Never used Vista or windows mail. Sorry I can't help today.

Maybe check to see if you have some security program or setting in your mail that wipes or prevents cached passwords, etc... worth a shot.

i'm using the windows fire wall, and the microsoft malicious software utility as well as kasparsky. i'll lokk.. i know there are settings for deleting chahed files and such.. but the only ones i know of for privacy settings on mai accounts are for using shared or public computers, ie.. deleting your history and email account info.. and I know that one is not checked.

now here's a thought. for my home / private mail I have embarq, and use webmail, and not an email client.... and they make you manually log back in every 2 weeks or so, while in the main time you can use your hotlink to go right to your inbox.. it's just that about every 2 weeks it takes you instead to a loging window..... i wonder if at&t is doing the same thing and asking for a login / denying the autologin by the windows mail client? at&t can be accessed as webmail too ( yahoo servers now ).. and when not at work I use the webmail.. when at work I use the windows mail as a client.

hmmmm

hmm...

Sounds like you could be onto something there. If you have not already done so you might also want to verify the settings for AT&T in your Windows Mail account settings. I believe these are correct:
