windshield wipers
Has anyone on here tried to purchase refills for your wipers lately?
I went to Wall Mart and 2 auto parts stores the other day and they didn't sell them.

I am not sure you can just replace the rubber on wipers anymore. Just replace the entire blade, which are really reasonably priced at Wal Mart.

I always buy the entire blade assembly...

I figure the amount of money I would save buying only the refill I would lose in the time it would take to install it. The entire blade installs in seconds, versus the struggles of lining everything up correctly when trying to install the refill.

It doesn't cost much more money to buy the entire assembly, and the time savings makes up for it!

Wonder when they quit manufacturing the refill inserts.
I'd been buying them for years.

Most folks probably install the refills the wrong way.
I learned a little trick that makes installing them easier and quicker.
Insert the refill from the top of the wiper blade not from the bottom .
This way the windshield isn't in your way when installing or removing the refills.

AutoZone sells the refills.

CJ7 wipers are pathetic at the best, I have those old metal style and use refills till the wiper falls apart.

To make them clean better I clean edges with alcohol wipes every so often, makes a huge difference.

Advance Auto also sells refills if thats what you want. I just replaced the wipers on my truck. I bought the whole blade and put them on in less than a minute. In fact if you have an Advance store near you they will install them for free.

Auto Zone is one of the 2 auto parts stores that i went to that didn't have have them .At least not for my 1986 and 1989 Dodge D 50s.

I would check on line to see if they carry them for your vehicle. It will show you if it is in stock at the store nearest you. If the store doesn't have something in stock, they will order it and get it in usually the next day. I buy refills for my '77 Dodge Power Wagon, so I would think they are similar.
