Besides bubenburg, has anyone else tried a wing mower? I loaded up about 400 lbs of concrete bags and gravel in my trailer and pulled it around to simulate the addition of a wing power. Seemed to work fine. I could barely tell the weight was back there.

I’m thinking about getting one of those 60” Swisher’s (T-60) when TSC puts them on sale this summer. They are about $800 less than the Kunz Acrease mowers ($1200 vs $2000), which is a lot since I'm broke. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I think it would cut at least an hour off my 3 hour weekly mowing.

you better be a good welder and an excellent mechanic with your choice ... we already have bought these kind of wing mowers before ...but good luck whatever choice you make

Hans, I may yet buy a Kunz. I'm just having a lot of trouble paying almost twice the price of a Swisher. Especially since my consumer use will not be as hard on the mower as commercial usage.

i agree the cost is a big factor, do i know, but as mentioned before maintenance can get you there real fast unless you are handy yourself. bounce around a while longer ... save your pennies ... you will be glad many times over to get a sturdier machine.

We'd still love to see pictures of the dual wing mower setup /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I have no need for such a large sweep right now, as it only takes me about a half an hour to cut our one acre, but would still like to see it.

Hans, couple of additional questions. What is the configuration of the mowers? Do you have two on one side or one on each side? When mowing on a hill, I assume you have to go across the hill rather than up and down (due to the extra weight). When mowing across a hill, do the wing mowers try to “creep” downhill? In other words, is it easy to tow the mowers or do you have to take special care with the direction you mow, with hills, etc.... Also, do you throw the clippings from the wing mower into the area you just mowed with the PT? Thanks.

you are welcome mr. mr.
will have some pictures of how i converted a harley rake made for a toro dingo 425. a mesh for protection for my face .... too many things have aimed for my target ... while mowing with the rough cut mower and stump grinding. but the one thing that really scared me the most is when we were cleaning out our chunk yard area that every farm and landscaper must have?!?!?!?!?!

a two inch solid heavy pipe somehow made it for my face and luckily i saw it coming so i diverted it with my left hand and it smashed the right light of the 425

Yeow!

The one time I used my brush hog on the PT425, I foolishly mowed by the highway without walking it first. I hit a steel ratcheting tie down handle. It blew the left rear wheel clean off the unit, then reversed direction and flew across the highway. Thankfully, there were no cars or it could have killed someone or me. I learned my lesson on that one. I'll walk the areas before I mow, especially along the highway, where anything could be hiding in that grass!
