Hi everyone - happy snow plowing - we got nine yesterday
and they say another storm for monday - had my first chance to plow with the 1845 - it has a rubber lip unlike my 60" on the 425 - I thought it did a great job and I liked having the rubber lip - I have heard some complaints on the sight RE snowplowing - I don't know maybe I am inexperienced but I think they both do a great job and plow right through anything

at least on aspalt - well anyway - I wondering if anyone ever thought about a winter enclosure - would be a fun project - plus I got soaked out there plowing in the middle of the storm.
The only other articulator I know is the Steiner and they offer a cab system - must be unique to deal with the articulation

Any ideas???

there is a convertible car roof and upholstery guy here in plumsteadville, pa that will make me an enclosure for around $300.00. i see his finished work all the time. one of my former partners restores 1-3 mustangs a year and has him do the tops ...very nice work.

pt's cab, i hear, is in the range of $500.00 to 800.00 when i checked last.

if you are interested, he can take the measurements from my 425. let me know.

Hey Hans - you mentioned "PTs cab - around $800" - I didn't think they made a cab - do they?

Oh - I would need it for the 1845 - the 425 is going to my brother in law - would be cool to have a heater too
and ideas on that?

Oh I noticed that the lights are much brighter on the 1845 - must be the alternator - in any event - I still want to add lights up under the canopy . I recall someone did that recently in a thread - but I think they wired it separate - was wondering why you could not just splice into the existing lights?

I found a set in Northern that are brighter rectangular halogens -

I want to add it to both units - mine and the 425 before my brother in law takes it - also is the alternator the reason for the brightness on the 1845 vs 425 - Does anyone know??

I think our version of the Kohler has a 15 amp alternator. There is a 20 amp available. A couple big halogen headlights in addition to the existing 35 watt headlights could do a number on the battery. I think, and correct me if I'm wrong please;

The two existing headlights are 35 watts each. They could draw about 5.8 amp. Lets just say 5 amps.

Subtract that from the 15 amp alternator and you have 10 amps left to play with(not counting anything else that might draw power, like spark plugs and hydraulic solenoids)

12 watts @ 12 volts = 1 amp
120 watts @ 12 volts = 10 amps
180 watts @ 12 volts = 15 amps

So, two 55 watt halogen headlights could draw about 9 amps.

Does this sound correct?

Mr. M.R. you are absolutely correct, ergo only when moving on the road for short trips do i light the x-mas tree. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good. Cause I bought 2 headlights last year to mount under the ROPS and never got around to it. They are the 35 watters, like the standard headlights, so I should be fine.

Chris Asbury the former sales boss at pt, told me that someone installed an RV Air/Heather on top of an 1800 machine. on the 400 series Carhard and enclosure or just Carhard will do fine. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

P.S. Call Don (specifically) and ask him if the guy still makes skirts and enclosures for pt's

I saw a picture of the PT400 series with a hard cab somewhere. Does anyone have a link?

they removed it after the first revision of the attachment pictures. i spoke to don and Eddie (not available on the phone) while i was in Tazwell last week. they told me about someone around there making skirts for pts so you don't have all that dirt and debris on the dust ledger up front ... i will pursue the lead on the phone on Monday and get back to you all

You think I can splice right into the existing lights?
