Winter storage / to buy or not snowblower?

/ Winter storage / to buy or not snowblower? #21
I've owned one snowblower in my life. That was 20+ years ago. It mounted on the front of a Case Garden tractor. In the entire time I owned it, we never had a snow of over 4" depth. I sold it. Next winter we had 17" in one day, 22" total in 2 days for the first snow of the year.

If I thought for one second buying another would mean no deep snow, I'd buy TWO.

4WD truck, and a "stay at home if it snows much" attitude now means no snowblower on my radar.

Canoetrpr, I have the Kubota 3pt snow blower with manual crank and have no problems cranking the handle while in the seat. In fact, my son (14yrs) has no problem cranking it either. We get lots of snow here on the Bruce so the blower gets lots of use. Paid $1400 for it new in Oct '04. I blow my paved laneway and a large gravel parking lot and two of my neighbors laneways.

Nice setup you have there luremaker. Makes me a tad jealous that I passed upon the Grand L :)

I did decide to bite the bullet and get a blower. I've ordered the Meteor 68" made by Walco - doubt it will be orange like yours but sounds like a good blower and I got a good deal on it - $1800 - compared to what most of the dealers are charging.

The Kubota blower you got sounds like a real good deal.

You made a wise decision Canoetrpr. I've had my blower for over 20 years. It has paid for itself many times. I used to use it on the 1910 but now the L3400HST has the job. It is easier to drive with HST and no FEL and it starts much easier than the 1910 ever did. It is fun in the winter too. Just stay up wind of the snow.:)
