1st time posting, long time lurker!
owned this little beasty a couple of years and been a great toy for my wife (her other car is a tractor sort of thing)
and every year when i take off, put on the snowblower, i run into the same issue. Though i documented "somewhere"

Anyway, the issue is
getting the collar on the pto driveshaft hooked up.
I can slide shaft on.
Inside the female side are 3 ball bearings that are tight. There seem to be 2 collars on the SB shaft. The collar closest to the tractor (vs the one closer to the SB) removes the tension on those balls.
But.... I cannot slide the assembly further onto the shaft... I am holding the collar back while trying to get the whole assembly onto the shaft but it just won't go any farther. It is "kind of" on which is dangerous .

The shaft and female side are NOT keyed.
I can see there are rounded "divots" that are probably the recievers for the ball bearings.
Cannot get them to that point and LOCKED in.

What am I missing. I KNOW it is simple but.... help!!

I figured out how to remove and install last year but it is always 6 months later
OY!
thank you
Gord up in not wintry yet Muskoka Ontario Canada

if you would be kind to email at parallaxATvianetDOTca that would be great too as I am not on the board alot. thank you!

Parrallax,
What I have found that helps is if you put the PTO into REAR mode only, then you can spin the MID PTO shift with your fingers to help align the Blower shaft splines.

PLEASE PLEASE!!! Be sure that the blower shaft is engaged and LOCKED onto the PTO spline before you run the machine! I always give the shaft a yank (when the wife ain’t home) To be sure it is locked.

Cheers,
BN

I ALWAYS am a jerk... I mean I pull back on the shaft to make sure it is locked... that is how I knew it was not locked. I did not know you could spin the tractor PTO shaft easily by putting it in "mid" . Good to know... that may help as I thought I was doing it right but... every 6 months I wonder how I did it.

Parallax,
Just to be clear—you need to put the PTO selector in REAR!!! That will allow you to spin the MID PTO shaft with your fingers!!!

Read that carefully!!!

i soak both ends/sides with WD40 - significantly helps sliding parts together, moving the locking collar, ball bearings, etc.

WD40 is your friend.....
