Winter's just around the corner and my BX23 will see a few months of being alone in the barn...We usually don't get the heavy snow fall here in this part of Oregon...Other than starting it periodically, oil change, greasing it and making sure the anti freeze is good, any ideas/tips you've found works best for you?

I would say you have pretty much covered it. Fresh oil, grease and a good cleaning is what all my equipment gets before storage. I will also give a quick shot of LPS3 on any unpainted or scuffed surfaces like under the mower decks. I use trickle chargers on the batterys at home and use the solar chargers on stuff at my cabin property's barn. A little stabilizer in the fuel tanks and lock the doors.

I would caution against periodic start ups unless you let it run long enough to come up to full temp, otherwise you are adding condensation to the cylinders and not helping a thing.

I always let it warm up and move it some just to free up anything that needs to be rotated...Bearings and all have a different "look" at the mating surfaces that way.

Exactly.

Rule of thumb, is that you need to run a diesel HARD for an hour after it's up to operating temps. If you just start it up, and diddle around for 10 min then shut it off, you will be adding a tremendous amount of water to the oil. That's not good.
