I've just picked up a MF 2615 with loader. It's got about 20 hours on it. Manual says to break in doing field work for the first 50 hours. Everything's froze up with 18 inches of snow here in MI. Looking for wintertime break in ideas!

Thanks,

Terry

Just go push some snow. That's what I'm doing with my recent purchase with 23 hours on the meter. Before doing that, I did drop all the fluids and started fresh. The low hours didn't deny the time clock had been ticking on those fluids for a few years and all that "non use" may have been less than ideal on it, so I wanted to start with a clean slate.

It is often hard to pile on break in hours in the dead of winter. But, as I say, push some snow, haul some wood and do what you can. The weekend promises a whoop-di-doo warm up, so enjoy.

If those 50 break-in hours take 6 months, so be it. If there are tasks (snow removal, hauling wood...as suggested) great. If not, it's not going to hurt the tractor if break-in hours don't accumulate that quickly.
And winter will be over in a few months...I'm sure you'll have plenty of work then.

Personally, I've never bothered with break in procedures other than recommended oil/filter changes. No matter the equipment. Snowmobiles, tractors, motorcycles, whatever. I've just used them as I was going to be using them anyway from the day I bought. At 51 years of age I've never blown up or ruined any of these items yet.
Maybe it's dumb luck, maybe it's because I tend not to horse or abuse stuff to begin with.

I'm with JJZ. I don't follow break in stuff, keep the oil clean and make sure its warm before you work it.
