Can any of you welders can tell me if a Lincoln 10 lb spool adapter can fit the spindle of an HF 170A wire welder? I am trying to use a 10 lb wire spool and as far as I know HF does't carry the adapter, but Home Depot carries a Lincoln adapter. I could check the measurements but It's a 30 miles drive for me.

you got a welder, build you whatever adapter you need.
A buddy of mine was given 10 rolls of wire but it wouldn't fit his machine. 30 minutes later and a few parts cut out, some ingenious thinking, it fit like it was made for it.

Give me 1/2 hour west coast ( 7:30 pst ) time and I'll measure the adapter in my lincoln 135 thus all you have to do is measure your machine.

O.k. Shaft size in my Lincoln is .635" ( some were between 1/2" and 3/4" maybe 5/8" ??? did not convert decimal to fraction ) Adapter is slightly larger than that , a little slop but not much . Length of adapter is 3" so I would think it would still fit and be able to close door on welder . Assuming you are talking about this product :
