FORD 1700
JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST FORXD 1700 TRACTOR, SEEMTO BE HAVEING WIRING PROBLEM. EVERYTHING WORKED WHEN I BOUGHT IT BUT SINCE THEN. I HAD ALT REBUILT NEW REGULATOR. AND THE LIGHTS QUIT. NOW THE TEMP GAUGE STAYS ON HOT, REPLACED GAUGE SAME THING. I AM NEW AT THIS BUT ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS CHARGERMAN

Typing in lower case instead of yelling would be a good place to start. Odds are you mixed up wires when reconnecting. Unless every terminal is clearly identified and every individual wire is identified. It will be cheaper to hire a pro instead of shorting out the electrical system and risking a fire.

Check all your fuses, temp gauge at hot means no power to it, no lights (oil and charge) means likely has no power to them. The tractor is 30+ years old.

You obviously did not understand buickanddeere's comment re yelling. In forums, typing in uppercase is taken as YELLING. Please type in normal lowercase unless you need to accentuate a word.

The situation of the gauge remaining on hot could indicate a bad ground connection. Check that ALL ground connections are clean and tight.

Engine to frame, instrument cluster to frame, battery to frame etc.

OREZOK give you right suggestion .Check all ground wiring . (You could take ground wire from battery and connect to right place in cluster , unconnect temperature sensor from cluster that way cluster show You low temperature ,when you give ground in sensor place cluster show hot temperature .You will know so cluster is OK or is bad
