Wiring Voltage Regulator

Hi Folks I am new to this site and I need some help in connecting the wires up to the new voltage regulator, the wire colors on the voltage regulator do not all match the wires coming off the tractor my tractor is a 1610 D

The wires coming out of the new regulator are brown,blue,red,blue,yellow,black
the wires off the tractor are two red wires one is larger than the other, two blue wires,one large black wire and one yellow&green wire can some one please tell me how to match them up :confused2:

On my YM2000, there is a wiring harnes with a plug that you just plug in, or at least i thought there was.

Yep, there should be plugs on both the regulator and the tractor. They can only go together one way. Just plug them in and ignore the colors. The wire colors are not always the same. Or... are you saying that one of your plugs are cut off?

That is the way it is supposed to be but some one cut the plug off and individually wired them back for some reason I guess the plug was bad so now I have to figure out which wire goes where

Good luck! Trace them back and you will have to figure out the spots on the reg.

Yeah, you have to look up the part # of the regulator and get the wiring layout, then either use a wiring diagram from a service manual or manually trace every wire in order to match them up by use, not color.

i had to do this with my YM14. the large red is battery, the small red is ignition, the black is earth, the blues come from the alternator and the green/yellow is the warning light. you need to match them up now, the only 2 that could get confused is the brown and the red? is the brown battery or ignition? is the red battery or ignition?........:confused2: even the yellow on the reg could be ignition and the brown the warning light???.......:confused2::confused2:

Thanks Guys I guess I going to go to the dealer I got the tractor from he has another 1610 D there and I will look at that one and see where everything goes for sure

photos of your wires and others should post pics with wires in plug connections should help you to connect correctly; I have the same problem with a 180D but its 500 kms away at the moment. I'll try to remember and post a pic or 2 in a week ot two.

Others should post pics for comparison.
