Yesterday i took on a job, a man wanted to dig out and level an area to install a 24' above ground pool, Its been raining every 3 days since first contacting me 2 weeks ago, Finally was able to get started yesterday,
I've only talk with him over the phone and had a brief description of what he wanted done, after showing up and getting a real life look at the area, I was a little reluctant as to if I could do the job....
There was no place to be found level enough to setup a pool.
The grade would require cutting in 2 1/2 feet on one side and moving the dirt to the low side to building it up
note: this is Georgia Red clay :confused2: no doubt I had my job cut out for me,
My first approach was not very successful when using the front loader bucket, simply could break ground going into it from up hill, Luckily I had brought my Disc harrow with me, I cut the area up good with the harrow and then was able to scoop out the loose clay, I repeated doing this several times... disc & scoop until I had gotten a level area enough to work on, Now I could start digging with the loader bucket, although as you might know when trying to dig red clay without a tooth bar it can make a mess of things, Un-even and chopped up, But I worked away at it until getting it down 2 1/2 ft. I then went for the Pulverizer,
After running this tool several times over the ground it leveled out pretty good removing any high spots and filling in the low ones just as it is design to do:thumbsup:
I was making good leeway when the rain started and then had to stop, My next thing was to box scrape a swell around this area so that water would be diverted away from the pool, But now water is standing in the area I cutout, all done in 5 hours and in another hour and I'd could have been finished, I must now wait 3 days for it to dry up again,
Moral of the story: Even though having our CUT tractors...
with enough implements you can dig a swimming pool:thumbsup:
