Robotic wolves keep foraging wild boar at bay on Chiba farms:The Asahi Shimbun
Farmers here are being offered "Super Monster Wolf" robots to lease as weapons to deter wild animals that wreak havoc with their crops.
The move comes after the city's agricultural cooperative association (JA Kisarazu) concluded that the robotic wolves proved effective in keeping animal pests at bay following a trial that began last year.
One unit is available for a trial lease of up to six months at a cost of 2,000 yen ($18.90) a month. Afterward, farmers can decide if they want to rent one on their own for 12,100 yen per month for four years.
