Hi, my brother recently purchased some property with an old vintage tractor on it. I'm hoping someone can tell me a little about it as we have no history for it and know nothing about tractors. All I've got for details are Case and serial # 5407222S. Basically my brother wants to sell it but we have no idea what it might be worth. If anyone out there can help me with some info I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

Welcome to TBN, Booker
Good job on the pictures. I am quite confident we have the expertise here to tellyou what it is.
I can see that it is gas powered and the spark plug wires are missing.
My guess is that it is a 1941, J.I. Case, not sure what model. But that's just a guess based on serial number referenced here.

The only CASE S/Ns I can find that resemble the one on your tractor correspond to 1950 model C, D, LA, R, S, and V tractors.

If you could figure weight; scrap value may surprise you.

I'm not certain if that year and model have special value. Ebay and Craigslist searches may give you some idea. If you can get it running it would be worth more for sure.
If it has to go for scrap, the link I posted says it weighs 4300 lbs.

It's a 1950 Case model S. I have a 51 Case SC (Row crop). It's a great tractor, but was slightly underpowered. I'm able to pull a two bottom plow in good soil conditions, but that's about it. I believe its around 22 Hp. If it has the eagle hitch, hydraulics, PTO and its enging is OK, I've seen them selling for between $500 and $1000. The model S was more rare, may be worth slightly more to the right buyer. Mine has wheel weights and rear's filled, weighs around 5500 lbs. Sad that the Case line in this group, SC, DC and LA's never rose in value like many other 1950's vintage tractors.
Attached is an after photo of my Case DC. (The SC can be seen behind the DC)

Thank-you so much for all the info everyone! I'll let my brother know what it is, maybe we can find a buyer for it rather than sending it to a scrap yard. I'll be sure to update if we find a buyer.
Thanks again everybody!:)

Interesting. I'm curious about how you made this identification. I'm no expert in Case tractors so I was going by the front wheels/grill and the rear fenders. The serial number got me in the ballpark, but I couldn't narrow the choices (C, D, LA, R, S, and V).
