Won't Go Into 4 Wheel Drive!

My T2310 with 600 hours is getting harder and harder to get into 4 wheel drive. Sometimes it just won't go in at all. I hope someone out there has some suggestions.

linkage bent?

linkage seems to be fine. When unhooked at transfer case[?] it moves freely.

Try to lift front of tractor with loader to shift into 4wd. I rock mine back and forth with the HST pedal to take 4wd outta a bind. I saw a post on here that applied to a TC40 same as a T2310 and the owner stated a nut was loose on the interals of the front axle where drive shaft mates up. Ill see if i can do a search and find it. I have 400 hours on mine and at times it is hard to engage.

Check out the entire path from where you put your hand on the gear selector to where the mechanism enters the engine.

My B7610 started getting difficult to shift range. Found there was a place where a rod went through a pipe and it was hanging there, two shots lube and it was fine.

My 4WD problem has been solved. It was a very simple fix I might add. A knowledgeable NH service manager told me that the lever that goes in the transfer case has a tendency to freeze up from lack of use. He said to simply spray the area where the lever goes in with a good penetrating oil every time I walk by the tractor. After 6 or 8 times, it shifts into and out of 4WD better than it ever did. He also said a little extra force on the lever [pipe wrench] might be needed or even a little heat could be used to help draw the oil in. Neither was needed in my case, only a few squirts with a spray can. He also said to get in habit of using 4WD once in a while, whether it's needed or not. I hope this helps someone else that might experience the same problem.
