Won't Start

My 3030 won't start. Battery up, no fuses blown, pto in neutral, transmission in neutral, brake on. Turn key and the panel lights come on including the glow plug,sitting in seat, but it won't turn over. Anyone have this happen to them

Try rocking your foot peddle back and forth. It sounds like one of your safety switches are not closed. Check and recheck pto's, clutch, seat foot peddle to be in correct position. If still no start you will need to check each switch with ohm meter to find witch one is not working. Good luck.

I don't even know how you get at the PTO switch unless you pull half the tractor apart.

I recently had a similar situation with my B7800 and it turned out the hydro drive pedal was not in the neutral position. It did, however, look like it was in the neutral position, but an ohmmeter on the switch showed it wasn't. I cleaned and lubed the linkages associated with this pedal and it hasn't happened again. But, it could be any of the safety switches. Good luck!

On the B7800 most of the switches(seat,seat up, pto (2) and hydro pedal) are located in the "under the seat area" and I believe I had to remove the panel in front of the seat to check the PTO switch which was attached to the PTO lever linkage - actually there were two-one on the rear and one on the mid PTO linkages. The switch on the clutch was the only one not in that area. I hope this helps.

After checking all the safety switches,I found the PTO switch to be bad. It wasn't easy getting at. Thanks all for the advice.

It's unfortunate from my side remembering when the tractors didn't have all the safety switches but they are the bulk of starting problems. It would be nice not to have the aggrivation again!

OK folks. I too seem to have an HST no start problem, it seems a bit different,though. It won't find neutral. it's either going forward or reverse. Won't start unless i 'hunt' for neutral. seems to be sticking in gear. i've cleaned and lubed the 'rocking' forward/reverse lever and it still seems not to have a neutral. if i let it sit for a long period, it seems to start with no problem, but you can't get off the tractor. am i missing something or does this sound like a safety switch issue. sorry, haven' gotten a service manual yet. that's the next thing on the list.

What kind of tractor do you have? If you can't get the tractor to stand still it's more than a safety switch issue. Your description sounds like it either goes forward or backward no matter what you do with the pedal. Sounds very dangerous, do you just hop forward and backward when you want to stand still?

Humm...sounds something like the problem I'm having with my B3030. Can't engage the rear PTO to operate logging winch out of seat without killing engine. Guess I need to check out the PTO safety switches next.
