Chipper Wood Chipper experts - tell me about this ...

I came across this wood chipper attached to a Massey Ferguson 265 tractor this afternoon on my way home. It is for sale and I would like to get more information about the brand if possible before calling the seller. I happened to have my camera but ran out of batteries so only got one picture. It appears large and well used but I can't seem to find any information on PC Stal ApS DK 8881 Thorso - other than it is Made in Denmark.

Any ideas or information.

My suggestion is unless you can easily get parts for it or it is dirt cheap (like under $400) stay away. Maybe in Canada they are available I have not seen them here in the states.

Yes the interent is amazing for stuff like this.

Because my Danish is non-existent I have emailed (in English) the company for information on Candain (Ontario) dealers and parts availability. Seller says he needs to get $4500 (Cdn) - lots of $$ if it turns out to be a pile of scrap metal.

I am proceeding with great caution because this is a definately NOT a need-to-have item.

Thanks for the website - I emailed them and got a reply back about 4 hours later

They said

"The chipper model is PC540. It is true that the chipper can handle wood up to 6" (approximately 15 cm) diameter. It requires 50 HP as you were told. Unfortunately we don't have a dealer in Canada, but it is still possible to get knives for the chipper at 90 $ us a piece (360 $ us. for all 4 knives) + delivery."

Sounds like it would have to be one H*** of a deal to make me interested.

That sounds mighty expensive to me (even in Canadian $$$ - I'm figuring something like $0.70 US / $1.00 CN). For that you can buy a pretty good sized chipper new...
