Just wanted to close the loop on this. I went with a Woodland Mills WC46 after reading all the advice & reviews. I saw the Woodland Mills and Woodmaxx products as basically equivalent on features & cost. I had a little trouble getting answers / contact with Woodmaxx, so I went with Woodland Mills. They were very communicative, delivered the product ahead of schedule, and have been responsive to every question & request after I starting using the machine. They have a very active user group on Facebook and they actively monitor the comments. I have actually had several conversations with one of the owners since receiving the machine, all initiated by him to get feedback.

It's a workhorse and I'm having no problems running this off my Deere 770, which has 20 hp at PTO and only 815# rear lift capacity. I might have been able to get away with the WC68, but it would've been pushing limits and I don't want to break anything.

I also elected for the rear hitch option, which is really helping me to get tractor, chipper and trailer to the wood pile all in one shot.

I like your chipping system there, using a towed trailer following you around, catching the chipping outflow. Specifically, what are your plans for all the wood chips?

I started out with a bearcat 5" pto in 1995 rebuilt it several times then finally got tired of all the manual labor and bought a woodmaxx mx 9900 with hydraulic feed and have been very pleased. I usually chip into my manure spreader then I have to handle the limbs/ wood 1 time.
If anyone follows this thread and wants some free woodmaxx chipper blades for mx 9900 or mx 8800 I have 3 ( found a cracked blade when I sharpened the last time and Woodmaxx won't send me a single blade only sets

I send chips right into a top dresser. A lot of work to fill it, and gone in a few short minutes. Wanted it to repair muddy trails, but it's too much work. Gravel or dirt would be much easier.

IT - I've used pine chips on a short muddy section of my driveway. Very nice. Covers nicely and "contains" the muddy area. However - just like pine needles. Comes the rain and they tend to wash out of the muddy area. Comes the snow and I'm sure I will blade them out of this muddy area.

Pine chips just do not bond into a muddy area like gravel. They DO make a quick fix until you can get gravel.

I have a woodland 8H on my kioti 45 CHSE, 38 pto hp and chip at a slow feed and will use every bit of hp 5 in or bigger. Also chip hedge branches and Don t want the thorns whipping around.
