Wood Duck Nest Boxes

My waving and yelling at the geese is keeping the __ away this year w/o scaring the ducks. :cool2: I looked at buying vs building boxes and found out which other birds prefer them.
Seeing migrating buffleheads and mergansers (common and hooded) visit and move on in the spring, I learn they might find a suitable spot to nest here. Had a few ring necks again this Spring but usually just males. An obvious pair browsed cattail margins as if looking for a nesting spot a few weeks ago, but I don't know yet what it would take to get them to nest here.
I dare say we should get out out bat box plans soon too, and get them put together and mounted to host more of our favorites.

I installed a Wood Duck box this year, but have not seen any. I think Red Wing Blackbirds took it over?
However my new Mallard tube was a first year success. :thumbsup:
