I forgot to mention this earlier. I was adding a smv plaque to my hay trailer and to my ford 5000 ( had to rob the previous one off the 5000 earlier in the year for a new mower ). Anyway.. Tractor supply usually sells the plastic cheap ones, and the aluminum not so cheap ones.. and a palin decal that ou just stick on to a hard surface.. Well.. for the past 2 weeks.. they havn't had any of the palstic or metal ones.... so today.. in desperation.. I grabbed the decals,
When i got home.. I started searching for something to stick them too that will be kinda permanent so i can reuse them.. I.E. not cardboard.. etc. Then i remembered I had some 3/16" door skinning / luann sheeting. I used the decal as a stencil, and then cut the wooden smv plaque out on my benchtop scroll saw. and then dressed the edges with the disc sander. Turned out great. Stuck the decals on, and then flipped em over.. used gorilla glue and 3 big magnets onthe opposite side, and left a thick book on it to clamp it while the decal glue and the gorilla glue cured. You can't tell it's a wood smv plaque unless you flip it over.
My wife noticed it just now and asked about it.. so i decided to 'fess up and post about it.
