I am considering getting a wood splitter for my Kubota L185. Is this feasible, or will I be disappointed in it's performance?

The second issue is that at this point, I have no connections for hydraulic attachments, but I believe that connections can be added. Is this correct?

Generally, tractor hydraulic pumps lack the GPM to happily run a log splitter. Small trailer mounted log splitters run a two circuit parallel pump to gain flow at low pressure, then switch to a single HP circuit to get the work done. Tractor pumps are single stage.

A PTO pump running off the full tractor RPM is the usual bigger hammer solution to this issue.

I don't think you'll like the price of adding hydraulic remotes to your tractor or the hydraulic flow you'll get from that tractor. I think you'd have much better luck with a PTO pump. You'll either have to run a large cylinder slowly (more force) or a faster smaller cylinder with less force, but I think you can make something work with 15 HP at the PTO.

I think with THAT small of a tractor, you WILL be disappointed with the performance of the splitter, UNLESS you just want something to mess around with and don't plan to split much wood.
