Looking at the mx9900 anyone used this pto machine? Have used a bearcat 70554 since 1994 and after finally breaking the drum weld when as knife came loose (second time) its ready for the scrap pile.
I like the replaceable anvil and the power requirement since I have 34 pto hp. The bearcat equivalent is more expensive and I'd be below power (minimum 35pto hp). I want USA made not asian junk. Does anyone know of other possible chippers?
Thanks
Steve

I just got the 9900 a few weeks back, have almost 20 hrs on it now and really like it. I really wish it had double rollers because heavy material needs a little push and if you stuff it full of small stuff it chews through it by layers instead of sucking it all in.

Any problem with trying to run short pieces through? Rented an "EAGER BEAVER" 1993 wonderful machine but short pieces would jam between the drive drum and the flywheel. Do you feel the hydraulic feed is strong enough to pull say 5 " with limbs attached? When using the "Eager Beaver" if you could lift it up and get it started into the feed roller. it would literally drag it out for you. I've used a 1"x42" belt disk sander with adjustable angle table to sharpen the blades for 25 years. I found that once the blades started to dull I would remove less of the knife by lightly resharpening. If the blades were really dull and I had to forcefully shove the limb through I would have to remove a lot of the knife to sharpen it. Still friends with all of the neighbors since I accept all of the arborist trimming/pruning to be used as bedding for the cows turning it into compost/mulch for the yarn and garden! Really loved the Bearcat, but retired...(with acreage you're never retired) ...I'm looking forward to the hydraulic feed!
Thanks

Woodmaxx's min pto hp is way low. They say the 8H only needs 19hp. Well maybe if you're chipping twigs. I have 32 hp at the pto and I have to throttle the feed down to a minimum to handle 5-6" or larger material. I don't think you could chip 6" material with 19hp.

The dual rollers do a good job of pulling stuff in. It's one reason I went with the 8H.

Nope, if it makes it through the roller it’s coming out the chute. Fast!

I've always used the manure spreader to move the chips that I can spread or dump in a pile. I hate doing manual labor, the professionals chip into a dump truck or onto the ground. Using the spreader I only handle the limbs going in!
