Hey all I hope everyone is doing awsome! I wanted to share my experience with the WoodMaxx brand FM54 Flail mower on my Kubota BX23s.
I hope this video helps anybody out there who is on the fence about getting one of these.

In the video I asked alot out of that little flail and it handled it I think as it should. The Y Blades did an awsome job on the tall foxtail.
There was a moment in the vid where it looks like it clumps up and is not cutting well.
This was due to the grass being too wet to affectively clear the cut grass out the rear of the flail.

Please let me know what you guys think of the flail and if you have any questions about it please let me know!

Lower the skids to the lowest position then remove the scraper and put it in the scrap bin.

Hello and good afternoon WichartAcres,

I want to welcome you as the newest resident member of the "Flail Mower Nations".
When you have time please fill in your information on TBN as we may have a fellow resident nation
member living nearby that could help you if you run into problems with your flail mower.

The scraper is the flat piece of steel that is mounted above the rear roller on your flail mower.
The scraper does not have to be there and it only interferes with the roller especially when mowing
heavy brush as you have found it becomes a catch all for clipped brush.

As far as mowing goes the easiest way to save fuel, time and brakes is to mow in a spiral pattern as it eliminates
braking, backing up and turning around to mow and after a few more mowing's to shred everything and create
fine clippings they will dissolve into the sod.

As regards the air filter in that machine do not pay attention to the recommended hours of use to change it and do
not depend on the tattle tale restriction indicator if it has one as they love to get stuck and remain in the green.
Also be sure to check the air inlet screen of your radiator with the engine off to allow enough cooling air to enter the radiator.

Please be careful with greasing your flail mower as you do not want to over grease it and blow out the inner seal on the
Flail Mower Rotor Bearings.

The rear roller does not need as much grease as the Flail Mower Rotor Bearings.

Your flail mower should always sound exactly like a high end vacuum cleaner as it is creating a pressure gradient/suction under the
Flail Mower Shroud to slice the brush and lift the clippings up and over the Flail Mower Rotor Shaft and back down to the ground

Happy mowing

@leonz Ahh yes! Thank you for the explanation. On the woodmaxx the scraper is a piece of 1x1 angle iron and I have had to clean it out (which isnt easy) after each use due to it being chalk full of dirt and grass clippings.
that was the first thing that I cussed on this machine.
Good tip on the grease! I just bought that Powered Rigid Grease gun and could see it getting me into trouble with over greas'n!

I and some other internet problem solvers had a theory that the rubber guard was too restrictive on discharging the material so I tried removing the rear rubber guard to see how the mower would work and captured the results on video.

I like other the other flail designs where this is an adjustable steel guard that allows you to control the amount of material being flung out the back.
