I am about to move forward with the purchase of the Woodmaxx MX9900. Interested in feed back from anyone who has experince with the Woodmaxx MX9900. It is a little more money than there other units, but the hydrostat, larger fly wheel and overall design seem to make this chipper the most efficient and productive chipper in this catagory. Any thoughts would greatly be appriciated.
This will replace my 13 year old Jimma, which i have been pleasantly supprised with, and hope the MXXXX9900 will be substanially more productive. I have read about every post I think on this forum about 3 pt chippers, which has helped me to determine I will purchase a hydarulic chipper. I dont mind paying more for a product if it is quality and worth it. Yes, I have looked at other models, such as the Woodland Mills, and others mentioned on this forum. As some of you have pointed out, there does not seem to be any unhappy Woodmaxx owners. Yes, I have read about a few of the problems on other Woodmaxx models, but have found no complaints about the MX9900.
Thanks!

My MX9900 just arrived about 2 weeks ago. I was out of town for work shortly after it arrived, but this past Saturday I finally got a chance to do the small bit of setup work on it and put it through its paces.

I sold my Bearcat 5" PTO chipper to justify getting the MX9900.

I chipped up the top of a dead tree that fell in my yard during the Winter. Much of it was too big to go through the old Bearcat. The WoodMaxx didn't hesitate a bit!! I was putting anything that would fit through the feed chute in the WoodMaxx and it ate it all.

I did pony up for the US made PTO shaft and also bought the "Full Replacement Kit". For everything, it was $5500 delivered. A lot of money, but so far I think it's money well spent. I do want to trim the PTO shaft a bit. It fits, but when I lift the chipper, I think the PTO shaft is close to its "minimum length". I don't want to put any pressure on the PTO shaft of the tractor, so I think knocking about 1.5" off the length will be a good thing.

My only complaint was that it took about a week longer than I was originally told for them to ship it. In fairness to them, this was during the time a few weeks ago when that big storm hit the Northeast and it did affect them. Once it was on the truck, it was in town the next day (on a Friday) and in my garage on Monday.

I'm running this on a Deere 3520 which is 30hp at the PTO.

I see you're in Ohio. I'm in S/W Ohio. Feel free to PM me if you're in my part of the State and we can set something up so you can see it for yourself.

Once I get everything adjusted, I'm planning on doing a real writeup with pics and video.

So glad to hear you are having a great experince. Sounds like you made the right decision. I agree about the pto shaft, heck, if spending that much, why not.
When I called Woodmaxx they told be they build these to order, so they dont have inventory sitting on the shelf. That also explains a delay in getting them.
I take it you got the standard black and did not spend the extra $200 for a color change.
Were you happy with the speed of the unit? Looking forward to your pics and video. There is only on video I can find that is on the Woodmaxx site showing this unit in operation. I will send you a pm and thanks for taking the time to respond. You comments are confirming.

I couldn't really justify an extra $200 to paint part of the chipper to match the tractor. The all black unit is really sharp though.

Feed-speed is good. I'm not trying to push it at this point, but it was super easy using the bar across the top of the chipper to speed it up for the little stuff and to slow it down when I fed in the really big stuff.
