I have a ten year old ford tractor model 1720. It is 27.7 hp. With a 7.4 gpm hydraulic.
I am looking to upgrade from my woods 750 hoe to a 9000 model from woods.
The dealer says that its too big. However the literature says it will fit .And now the dealer says it is possible but it would be rear end heavy. Also an ideas if I should run a separate pump for it? The brochure says it needs 9 gpm.but the dealer usually loops the tractor hydraulics to it.
And feedback is sure appreciated.

You can run it off the tractor but it will be a little slow using multiple functions. You won't notice it digging but will when you go to swing the boom, dipper and bucket for the dump cycle and back to digging.

I run mine off the tractor at 8gpm. If...I were to get a PTO pump I'd get one rated higher than 9gpm, like 11-13 or so. Then run the tractor at a lower rpm vs running at PTO speed. The tractor won't know the pump is even back there.

My specs show 1300#s for the 9000.

Are you saying that the 9000 will go on a smaller tractor than Mine? Another dealer told me that they too felt the 9000 was too big for the 1720.
either way, I would sure like a cubframe. I curently have a woods 750 , The other day I ripped the upper link bracket off the casting, Luckily, it didnt rip the bolts or the casting. But did coust 70 dollars for a new one.Lots of strains on it I guess. but never had it break before even with the other ford I had it attached too.
Thanks for replying ..

I don't know the size/wieght your tractor and don't know about the compatability of the two. I was commenting on the GPM and that you could do it but it would be slow. If it was my tractor and the BH isn't to big for it I'd get a pto pump.

Let me put some perspective on the sizing. I have a L3130 with a the 9000(1300#) BH and a 1016(850#) loader. The BH seems to be matched up on my tractor. The tractor itself wieghs in at 3300#, add the loader and thats well over 4k. The front end is a little light with the BH and loader but not bad by any means. The next size up from Woods would be to big. Hope that helps.
