I am looking at the woods backhoes (70x or 80x) for my Deere 3520. I see there are 2 mounts available, either 3 point hitch or subframe. I know the difference in the two mounts but what are the pros and cons of each. I am sure the subframe would be stronger, but it would have to be quicker to attach without having to remove the 3 point hitch arms, so would the 3 point hitch attach handle the backhoe fine? Know what I mean when I say dig today, mow tomorrow, dig next day. Ease of switching it means a lot to me. Also, I am thinking if I ever decide to sell it later, the 3 point hitch attach would be easier to sell instead of someone having to have the subframe for their particular tractor. Interested in opinions either way from anyone with experience with these.

On that size machine I would NOT get the 3pt--go with the subframe.

Compact tractors don't have castings strong enough to withstand the forces rendered it by a backhoe and loader. Over time, she will snap in half. A subframe takes the brunt of the loader and keeps you happy and whole.

There have been a few tractors here that have been badly damaged by the stresses that a 3 pt hoe puts on the CUT.

After seeing a few pictures I don't think that anyone would want a 3 pt hoe on their tractor.

There is no question that a 3pt hoe would be able to sell easier separately than one with a subframe. That said a hoe with a sub-frame would adequately raise the selling price of your tractor I imagine for you to re-coup much of your initial hoe investment in it.

Additionally, I think you would be surprised at how quickly a hoe like a BH80X with a subframe to fit a popular model of tractor like yours would sell to another JD owner who was looking for a used hoe at a little less than new price.

I have a JD 3320 with a JD 447 backhoe and would be fearful of putting anything much bigger on the tractor than that. It is frame mounted (not sub-frame) and can snatch the tractor around with ease. If you reach way out with the bucket and curl it over a rock or stump you can literally lift the front of the tractor (with 300x loader) off the ground. You learn to keep your digs close to the tractor real quick.

Because of the power of a backhoe, I would stay away from a 3-point hitch version.

Once everything is properly adjusted the JD hoe can come off or go on in just a couple of minutes, honest. It takes longer to remove and install the 3-point hitch links and stuff.

Once you use a backhoe you will not sell it.

1*I'v heard of people getting crushed to death with a 3 point hoe if something breaks.
2*That's cause you'ed have to be nuts to go back to a pick and shovel.

I am still trying to find out the price difference between the two mounts. I saw another post on here where someone broke their lift arm while box scraping on their JD, so that probably is asking alot of them. I could see something going seriously wrong if an arm broke while trying to use the hoe.

In all seriousness......... you are probably talking about a price difference in the 600 to 1000 dollar range, but there just is no comparison. Get the subframe mount......... it IS THE WAY to put a backhoe on your tractor.

SUBFRAME -- and it's not hard or time consuming. I have the 80 on my NH TC45 -- I have to disconnect the stabilizer arms but don't take the 3pt arms off. It's easier too if you can put the hoe on a roll around floor stand. That way you roll the hoe to the tractor rather than having to hit the mark backing the tractor to the hoe.

what the rest said, plus ---> JD will probably void your warranty on structural issues if a 3pt hoe has been used.

Just found out subframe mount is $927. I would spend that for the safety of it judging from you all. Mikim, you say you don't have to remove your lift arms, do you just leave them lowered and the hoe fits the mounts over them? Also the 70x is the one on sale, dealer stock left over, he doesn't have any 80x. Looking at the specs, it is pretty close to the 375 hoe from deere but alot cheaper.
