I have found a woods L59 5" mower that was removed from a Bison 650 G. Will this fit on a Beaver III and how much work would it take. It comes with all the hardware/parts removed from the Bison

I doubt it will work, but that doesn't mean it won't. You need to make sure it will physically fit first, and then adapt the drive mechanism. Is it driven off the rear PTO on the 650G?

It is driven off the rear pto, comes with pto mount pully, belts and the mounting hardware for the 650G. I was wondering how much bigger the Bison is than the beaver and is the mounts could be adapted.

I think the Bison is quite a bit larger than the Beaver. The specifications say it has 10 inches more wheelbase, which much larger tires, and it weighs something like 1000lbs more (nearly double). It's a markedly bigger machine.

Having said that, if the mowing deck will fit between the front and rear tires, it's probably possible to "make it work." I think you'll be doing some fabricating to make the lift work and the drive mechanism the correct length and so on.

The 650G is quite a bit more powerful than your Beaver, so you may be stuck going pretty slow with it in order to have the power to cut with the 5 foot deck, but it may work just fine on lawns or what have you if it doesn't get too long and you don't use the high lift mulching blades.

Get some dimensions on the deck and from your tractor.

Would you still have this mower? I have an S550G that I am trying to find a belly mower for. I know they run at different RPMs, but I think I can find a different PTO pulley to use. If you are interested in selling it please contact me. Thank you,

Hello All,

I am a "seasoned" 650g owner (with my "intense Satoh training" and 3+yrs of ownership) I am 99.98% sure that a Beaver will not handle that mower.

The 650 is a lot bigger (22 hp at the PTO) and the engine size of the Beaver I think is 14 or 15 hp, at the PTO I believe it should be in 13hp range. A lot of mower for that small machine.

I had a 5' bush hog on my ol' girl and I had to "spin it up" before I attempted to cut any grass, sometimes it would bog down and I would have to stop to "spin it up" again as my motor came back to idle. Maybe sell it and get yourself a better fitting Beaver model.

Heck, if Redrockmullet bought the mower from you, I'd buy the hardware for a possible future application type thing.

Sorry it's not the news you wanted to hear, but I have learned...the hard way...that with these ol' girls--best to keep the operation within spec because they will break and the parts can be a challenge to obtain.

Raf
