I never operated a backhoe in the field. My experience is fixing on case 580 and 590's (deere, cat and newholland too) at the power company as a mechanic. I occasionally got to play on them before or after repairs. If you have run one of the big size machines, this is like going from a full size jeep to a 6hp go kart.
Any backhoe beats the dog poo outta a shovel!
It will break 1" roots with the curl but the 2" or 3" you gotta work at it or axe or saw part way.
It will dig as much or more dirt out than the bucket holds and the bucket almost seemed oversized for a 12" one. It is longer and deeper than expected.
