I've been going over my new (to me) woods 6500 backhoe for the last few weeks. When i first got it a few weeks back i found a leak on one of the stabilizer fittings and all it took was tightening. Since then i didn't really notice any more leaks but i wasn't using it much. Last week i went a ahead and changed out all of the oil and filter. While doing this i found two more fitting leaks. I was easily able to get to one of them but the other is on the boom cylinder.

Does anybody have any tips on how to even get to the boom cylinder fittings? This is all new to me. I guessing I'm going to have to pull the cap/base end pin and use the hydraulics to pull the boom cylinder out of the boom? Does this sound correct? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Your plan is correct. A bit of a pain, but that is how it's done. Make sure the backhoe attachment is completely stabilized.
