Kubota L3400HST
Hello all! New to the forum, I am seeking a way to get more digging power out of my woods backhoe? I have a L3400hst. I have already up the presure of my tractor to 2700psi but haven't received any more power to the backhoe. Have also tried adjusting the inlet relief valve on the hoe and nothing. Why is this? Any help would be appreciated.

The Woods backhoes really need to have the pump kit installed. It consists of a seperate PTO mounted pump, a seperate hydraulic tank and the hoses. It is a pricey kit but most tractors don't supply the flow needed to make the hoe work like it should. I have a BH90X and I need the kit as mine is slower than it should be. Price I got was 1695. Last time I checked there was a great deal on the kit you need on ebay. Less than half price. Search Woods backhoe and if it's there you'll find it. It was in Vermont at a dealer brand new. Good luck.

As a follow up, I called the dealer and offered them 550 and they accepted it. Then I found out the tank would not fit they 90X, so my loss.

You only have 6.5 GPM implement flow.

How much flow is recommend for the Woods BH?

You have about 26.7 HP at the PTO, so you could run a PTO pump like this, 17.1 GPM at 2000 psi and adjust the BH relief to 2200 psi.

7.8 CU IN PRINCE HC-PTO-9A PTO PUMP 540 RPM

My woods BH90X wants to see 11 GPM.

Thanks for the reply guy's. My tractor supplies 6.3gpm and a bh80x requires 5-7gpm. So I should be good there. And the bh80x's operating pressure is 2470. I turned mine up to 2700 so that should be good Right?

Yep, until you break something by turning up the relief. CJ

Your tractor can be set pressure to 2700 psi, and the BH can still operate at it's lower 2470 psi set pressure with out possible damage. If you turn it up, you will get more force.

If you were to take it to a service center for repairs and you had set the pressure higher than recommend, they might refuse warranty work, and they would not it leave the shop until the setting was correct for the BH.

So, you can take a chance if you want to, but your call.
