Anyone here own or use a Woods Boss tractor and / or Brown rotary cutter. Im very interested in one.
1) Are they as heavy duty as they claim
2) Do they work well as a regular tractor (disking, shredding, etc)
3) What do they cost?
4) Does the Brown cutt really hold up if you cut 8" trees with it? and cant he Woods Boss PTO handle that?

Pics would be great. thanks Mike

I have 5' Brown Tree Cutter behind my 4720 Deere Hydro. The unit weighs 1600 lbs and is very HD. The Deere was modified with a certified FOPs from GR Manufacturing and a 3/8 belly pan. I love mine and it has cut down several 7-9" soft wood trees ( pine/gum). I would not try it in a 8" oak or hickory. It may cut it but I would use a c/saw instead. On big trees I back into them and on anything less then 4-5 I drive over them. I often see 6' used ones at auctions for 3-4K, just check the blades for wear as one will cost $2-300 and the mower has 4 of them. New 6 foot tree cutters are $6-9,000. The folding deck model would be the way to go.

Many of the powerlines here in SC are mowed with Wood Boss, or Hinton Machinery ( google that for pictures) tractor of of Alabama. You can get a TB 120, hydro winch, HD tires( but not skidder tires), FOPS, Sweeps, and belly pan for about $52,000 of course the Brown tree cutter is extra.

I saw a Brown 6 footer in action yesterday. Wow, that thing looks like it was made at the M1Abrams tank factory. The guy says it is used commercially to clear right of ways and such. It made our 6' Bushhog look like a tin can. Now I know why, I saw the pricing online. Over $11k for the model I saw in action. I'm sure its worth it if you need it. He cut the field and mowed over the huisache/mesquite brush at about 6-8 MPH.

Like Turkeyman wrote, you really need to beef up your tractor to handle this cutter safely.

The blades can be flipped over and used again.

There is a video to look at.

Last one I seen in action could grind up coke can diameter limbs up like they were nothing.

I think the minimum for a 6' is 90HP, and they were running it somewhere in the 125-150HP range @1000RPM if I remember correctly.

If I could sum it up, they make regular bush hogs look like finishing mowers.
