Rotary Cutter Woods Brushbull 48 shear pin access....HELP!!

I saw those clips (3 of them), and tried pushing, pulling and prying. Now that I know they are to be pushed in...I'll do it with some more persuasion now.

Thanks

I would bet there is a youtube video or at least instructions somewhere on the web

I've searched the net and youtube and haven't found anything. In this case...Youtube University didn't come through.

The shearbolt is under that dog collar looking guard where the PTO U joint meats the BH gearbox.

Id get in there with a dremel and cut some access ports to get to the bolt, youre going to be in there a bit if you do much heavy bush hogging in questionable terrain. Actually Id likely completely remove the Dog Collar and just leave the guarding on the PTO shaft

Scooby, here is what I did when I needed to adjust my slip clutch and couldn't get to it because of that stupid, ridiculous outer plastic shield.

I took a pair of tin snips and cut that outer shield lengthwise from back to front.

I removed the four bolts that hold that shield to the gearbox.

Then I pried the shield off (using the slit that I cut to slip it over the PTO shaft).

I adjusted the slip clutch. (In your case, replace the shear pin.)

You can the replace the shield by using the slit to slip the shield back on over the PTO shaft.

I haven't replaced my shield yet just because I'm the only one that uses the cutter and I NEVER get off the tractor with the PTO engaged, so I'm nowhere near the PTO shaft when it's turning. (I'm not advising you to leave yours off.)

Oh, and here is a video that shows how the PTO shaft covers are installed, which should help you remove them.

However, you should not need to remove them if you remove the outer cover. Removing that outer shield will give you plenty of room to work to replace the shear pin.

And I just saw THIS youtube video. I have no idea if these PTO shaft guards are available, but it's a great idea.

Twist them 90 degrees and they pop right out. I learned this the hard way myself ;)
