Just got back from the Woods Dealer looking at finish mowers. I wanted to see the 5' models he had in stock.

He has a PRD6000 for $1995.00, and a Heritage 54" for $1500.00.

I have about 4 acres to mow and am currenlty using a 48" lawn tractor which is a gas guzzler mowing and so I decided to sell it and get the finish mower.

The delimea is which Woods mower to get? Is the PRD6000 worth the additional $500.00? I understand it's a beefier mower....but trying to reason whether to go ahead and spend the extra $500.00 or be satisifed with the 54" Heritage Model..........

Any thoughts on helping me spend my money!

Get a used 72" finish mower for the same money. I went from 48 to 60 to 72". Don't need much tractor to cut with sharp blades. Grass looks so much better....

Yes, the PRD is worth the additional $500.00

I agree with the "get a used one" philosophy. I just got a 60" medium duty Rhino finish mower, 2 years old, for $800. List is about the same as the 60" Woods you quoted on. While used bush hogs may have been badly abused, most people don't abuse finish mowers and it isn't that hard to see which ones have been abused.

I have the PDR6000 and yes it is well worth the extra $500. A tank of a mower and with very little care a life time purchase.

Off of the beaten path if we may, have you looked at the ZTR mowers? I have a Woods rd 7400 finish mower and mow about 8 ac of my property. It takes me longer than I'd like for it to as is always the case. I had a friend bring his new Hustler ZTR 72'' cut over and I could not believe the difference in the cutting times. The Hustler smoked me! It was less then half my time. If you can swing it give the ZTR a whirl. You'll never want to finish cut w/a tractor again. Hopefully, in a month of so I'll be on my new Hustler ZTR.
