Hesitated a bit on this bush hog because i was worried about its capacity in cutting saplings (I have one pasture that hasn't been mowed in many years). Finding a good deal on one a few years old but sold as new (acquired as part of inventory when one ag dealer bought out another) sold me. Basically got it for the same price as the TSC cutter.
The cutter has not diappointed me. Breezed through the better pastures where weeds and thorn bushes prevailed. Now working on reclaiming the last pasture. I have definitely exceeded the recommended capacity, but this cutter shreds everything it comes across. I've mowed through groves of inch thick sumac that are growing inches apart, hardwood saplings 2 -3 inches, and softwood saplings (trees) up to 4 -5 inches across.
By the way, I also was concerned that this was a shear bolt protected cutter (again my limited budget made that choice), but I've yet to replace a shear bolt - hope my spares stay in the toolbox!
