Going to stop by and look at what the salesman calls the Woods Heritage Series Rear Finish mower. Maybe a 54".

Anyhow, I am clueless, frankly. Is $1400 a good price? Is this mower a quality unit? How would it compare to others, such as Frontier, KK or LandPride for example.
What should I look out for, if anything? Education needed on my part.

My first RFM was a 6' Jolle? (French made) and it was beautiful, red and welds so perfect you couldn't see them. I think I paid $1200 or $1400 for it. It kept falling apart. My yard is hillside and a bit rough. My dealer (Barlows) gave me full price I paid for it back on the purchase of a Landpride 6' around $1700. The Landpride is a tank and you can see the welds from afar. If your going to really use it, then check the weight. I know Landpride is good and I've heard Woods stuff is good. KK is OK but I think a step down from Wood and Landpride, that's a "I think" not positive, don't know for sure. I traded the Landpride in with my B3200 but it's still here at my house waiting on a buyer from Barlows at probably half of what I paid for it. I only used it a few times for one or 2 years. I mowed mostly with my BX's.

Thanks John,

At the dealer today, Steve walked me out to look two 54" Woods he had "left over" for a year or so. They looked like they were built like a tank. Awesome strong looking with solid, solid welds, non-pneumatic tires (a good thing, I think) strong arms and so forth. Geeeesh, what a deal he offered. $1350. Got to believe that is a clearance, get 'em outta here price. My concern is this. In reading on the Woods site, this mower is for hp rated tractors of 20-25. The BX1860 falls a bit short of that, plus the pto hp is only 13.6 or something. I have serious doubts about it being the right fit. Steve's still got 'em, but I passed for now, as I wanna think this over a bit more.

I'd want to be sure before I put my money down. If he's had them awhile he may let you try one before buying. Is your land flat or hilly? It makes a big difference. In my persuit of a Disc Harrow, I picked up a Landpride catalog yesterday at Barlows so I scanned a picture of their Finish Mower made for your tractor. It doesn't tell the HP requirement but you can do further research on it at Landpride website and Woods surely has a website with specs on theirs. My 6 Ft one would swing my B7800 around at the bottom of hills.

Sorry, this is not a Landpride catalog page but a Taylor Way catalog page.
