WOODS M40 CUTTER

I AM SEEKING INFO FROM ANY OWNERS OF A WOODS M40 40" ROTARY CUTTER. I AM LOOKING TO USE THIS ON A BX2200. THE WOODS BRUSHBULL 48" CUTTER LOOKS TO BE TOO MUCH MACHINE FOR THE BX.

THE WRENCH IN THE WORKS IS THAT THE M40 IS APPROX. $1250.OO COMPARED TO THE BB48 @ $850.00.
THE M40 HAS A SLIP CLUTCH & CHAIN SHIELDING VS. THE BB48 WITH A SHEAR PIN & RUBBER SHIELDING.
I'VE BEEN A DAILY READER OF THIS FORUM SINCE MAY 2000, BUT I DID NOT FIND INFO ON THIS IN THE ARCHIEVES. ALSO, ANY PRICING INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I AM FROM NORTHERN CT.

I don't have any info on the Woods M40./w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif If cost is an issue look at the Bushhog Squealer series. The SQ 420 would work well with that size tractor. I paid $650 for mine./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I have also seen a Fred Cain Rotary cutter that was a 36" cutter. I don't have any info on the Fred Cain models,I can't find a website for them,/w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif but the cutter I saw looked pretty rugged. What will you be cutting? The Bushhog is a light duty cutter that will cut up to 1" thick material. Believe me it will!/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif My Bushhog has shear bolt protection and the rubber front shielding no problems with either. Sorry I don't have any info on the Woods, but I thought I would plug Bushhog.

Woods replaced their "M" line of "Dixie" rotary cutters with
the new BB line about a year ago. They made the BB more
heavy duty and also cheaper than the M series. I believe
the M40 is a light duty (up to 1") cutter. I have an MD160
(medium duty, up to 2") which I bought used about a month
ago. New these were around $1800. I got mine for half that.
$1250 for a 40" light dury cutter seems way high.

Since you're in CT you might want to contact Robert Wolff
AKA Tractorman at Woodbury Tractor and see what he
recommends.
