Backhoe Woods now offers a hydraulic thumb for the BH80-X

Last year I bought a new Woods BH90-X backhoe with the optional hydraulic thumb and at that time the HT was only offered as an option on the BH90-X, and a mechanical thumb only on the smaller models. Recently I was contacted by one of our members as he was planning on buying a new BH80-X with an optional HT. I sent an email to Woods last week concerning the HT being a new option on the BH80-X and today received their answer-yes, it is now avalible on the BH80-X. That full option kit is #1031100. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A WOODS BH80-X WITH A WOODS OPTIONAL MECHANICAL THUMB, the hydraulic adaptor kit is #1031115. Do further note that on the BH90-X, the small 12" bucket WILL NOT MESH WITH THE HT. If you have a 12" bucket on your BH80-X, the same condition MIGHT occur. Please do your own verification with Woods. You may want to upgrade to hydraulic!

Any idea what the cost of the kit is, and how easy it is to plumb?

No idea of price so call your dealer or call Rosseel's Farm and Garden Supply, Inc. in Michigan, 586) 949-0822 and ask for Dan. They sold me my BH90-X at a very fair price. Go to the woodsequipment.com and download the installation manual at no cost to you.

When I bought my BH80 this spring the mechanical was around $400 bucks and the hydraulic was around $1200. Quite a difference!! I am hoping to be able to convert over my self in the future.

These numbers are from my feeble memory but the ballpark is correct, a 4X factor.

If you already have the mechanical thumb, you would need the part #103115 to switch over to hydraulic. Keep us posted.

Yeh, but how much is part #103115 from Woods, $800-$1000?

The additional hydraulic thumb kit was $980, or at least it is from Rosseel's. I don't know if it could be found cheaper from someone else.
