I have a chance to purchase a Woods / Gill turf renovator the units called a 20A900 and was manufactured back in the late 80's. The unit is the same as the current production model TR72 Turf Renovator. I have this question for the board! Has anyone ever used this piece of equipment or it's newest model called the TR72. I have been told it's for turf aeration and preparing the ground for seed in established lawns. I use a Roberts Jacobson 548 power seeder now and will continue to use it to over seed. The 20A900 is different from the new model in that you can adjust the three point hitch on the renovator to angle the rollers to make them more aggresive and open up the ground more. The older model is also used to break up bare dirt for seed. So how about it, anyone know about the older model or use of the new model. Scaper

I have a Woods STR48 which is a similar product but only 48 inches wide. The front roller is split and the roller on each side can be angled to produce more or less turf disturbance as required. My unit also has a seed box attachment. Overall I have been very pleased with the performance in standard pulverizing and seeding new areas as well as for overseeding established turf. I run the front rollers with no angle when seeding bare ground--it performs very much like a standard pulverizer in this mode except that there are no spikes and front leveler beam. By making several passes in different directions it makes a great seedbed. I have also used it for aeration. The unit is built like a tank. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Well i hope not I used it to aerate my lawn this past weekend and I was very very pleased with the results. This unit has no seed box on it and I'm paying $250 for the unit . It is 6' wide and very HD. Scaper

How much does that thing weigh? And what tractor are you using to pull it. The dealers here want 2900.00 for one. Is that a good price? I really want one But I want to know if it is worth the cash.

I finally got my STR48. You are right, it works great. My Bx does good with it. If it too wet mud will stick to the rollers though.
