Well people after going back and forth for the last several months I finally landed a 1996 Kubota L35 w/900hrs TLB. Just had it delivered yesterday and was playing with the darn things all night then had to modify my little barn interior flourescent light (removed it) so my new baby could fit inside. Had to lube everything up because it's sat so much under a lean to but still out side in the elements. Loader valve was really hard to move curl and dump position until I penentrated it with oil. There are no leaks and maintenance has been performed regularly but not to Kubota standards. They changed the oil filter and oil (motor) every 150 hrs but that pretty close to the 100hrs they recommend. Besides some paint peeling off cylinders and a couple rust pubbles aroudn the hood and areas it is real tight and doesn't leak any fluids. I've read things like the clutch needs to be replaced at 900hrs but am really wondering what I should look at on the unit for malfunctions and such and correct if needed from other owners and other people that might have heard of things to do. I know I have to replace or troubleshoot the lights (no rops lights) & hazzards because the switch operates like there is a sort in it. Another things is the brakes feel spongy (havent' looked at teh drain valve by brake housing yet though). I have to say that this baby does dig like one tough puppy and already have gone through some pretty wide places without getting stuck but haven't pressed my luck because I have to look into the seat belt because it's not working and I have a habit of using my seatbelts in everything too. Oh well please help this new Kubota owner in finding preventive things and maybe things that have already occured. I can't wait until spring!! Thanks everyone in advance and talk to you soon.

Did you get any manuals with the tractor? May be well worth it to get a hold of the owners/parts/and workshop manual for your new family member. Enjoy and keep us all up to date.

Actually I do have the manuals...well the owners manuals for the tractor, loader, & backhoe but not a parts or worshop manual. HMMMM I definately should get them. Was reading the L35 prior posts on the brakes not working properly and can relate to that for sure. Wondering if anything was found out about this and if there are Kubota Techs or Dealers that have any insight because I'm sure everyone would appreciate it. Thanks again everyone!

Well I do have one but quite obvious tip... Never and I mean never hit the brakes in 2-wheel drive while descending a hill. Learned from experience twice /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif. I suppose it is because of the heavy weight of the backhoe the whole backend of the tractor swings around so your rocketing down the hill backwards/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif Good luck and play it safe.

And one more tip. Upon taking the backhoe off, you will loose such a great amount of traction that you could swear you were driving a whole other tractor with turfs. Just keep that in mind if you plan on putting a backblade on for plowing.

O.K. Ben I will kept all that in mind. I don't want to follow in your footsteps with that hitting the brakes going down hill and ending up backwards....no thanks!! I still have to look into the brakes though because I'm not even sure that they would stop me that fast to begin with but still won't try.

DarinRay,

I have a B2400 4x4 without the backhoe. I *NEVER* allow myself to decend *ANY* hill (even one only 10 feet long) without 4wd engaged. I too have had a couple of eye popper trips down my front lawn because of the 2wd braking characteristics. I've even done it on my steep blacktop driveway. Not fun.

I basically use 2wd for manuvering in the garage or carport. I'm forced into this frame of mind because my land is similar to the hills found on rollercoasters.
