When I bought it the red paint was so faded from sitting outside all time I was expecting to have to paint it. One day I picked up some rubbing compound I had laying around and rubbed a little spot. I wound up rubbing and waxing all the red. I painted the green and the wheels and moved the top from my YM1700.

It had a red light on the dash that stayed on, thought it was bad alternator, found from this forum it was for the fluid level in the battery. Tied them together and no more light.

The power lift made a bad noise, found the screen stopped up. Cleaned and replaced the fluid and filter, no more noise.

The main thing that's left to do is move the FEL from the YM1700. Will have to do some bracket modification, but from what I can tell it's not going to be that bad.

Like I said it's a WORK IN PROGRESS!!!

Eddie,
Be prepared to take some heat for waxing your tractor !!! I started a post after i buffed mine when i brought it home from the dealer. I too found that a little effort had my tractor looking nearly new again ! Apparently this is NOT an acceptable practice !! All in good fun though. It looks great !! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If it saves me having to remove all red components, tape all decals and paint, then I'LL TAKE THE HEAT!!!!

Eddie,

I think it looks great! And with less wind resistance it should operate even faster.

Eddie,
Nice Ride ! You are better off keeping the original paint. I rubbed mine out when I got it too. I learned a long time ago in the body shop that red paint oxidizes fast but cleans up nice. Orange too, for that matter. I did my neighbors Kubota once when I borrowed it and he thought I brought back the wrong tractor.
Now, when I start mine, I rub some Meguires cleaner wax over it . Wax on-Wax off takes about 10 minutes. Wipes off easy and dosen't stick if its left on too long. This insures that I take the time to let my engine warm properly and gives me the opportunity to inspect everything before I ride off.
