John Deere 2210
I have a JD 2210 with a FEL and will be doing some snow removal in the winter. The FEL seems to get in the way of the headlights so I want to add a light or two to the ROPS or somewhere above the headlights, to make snow removal in the early morning possible. Is there an easy work light kit available? It doesn't have to be John Deere, I am open to any brand. I don't know a ton about electrical so something easy to install would be great. After some searching, i found light kit BM19291 to be an option, but I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere. Please let me know if there are any work light kits that plug into existing electrical for a 2210.

Thanks!

I believe there are two pigtails under the bottom crossbar of the ROPS that are switched with the headlights of the tractor. I know the 4x1x series tractors have this, so I would assume yours does as well. Unless you can find a light kit with the proper connector (possibly the one you listed) the easiest thing to do would be to cut the connector and splice some lights onto them. Verify function with a multimeter or some other means before cutting/splicing.
If you don't have these pigtails the next easiest thing to do would be to run a fused feed from the battery to a switch, and then to the lights, and pull a ground from the chassis. This is the route I went even though I have the harness I mentioned first. This way you can switch the lights independently of the headlights, even if the key is off. I can post a couple photos of my setup if you are interested.

I picked up a set of lights at Walmart for $20. Came with wiring kit (including an in-line fuse) and instructions. Hooked up directly to the battery. They work great. Very simple to install.

It would be great to see some pics. I talked to a JD dealer yesterday and they told me the easiest way was going to cost me $150, which I think is a bit steep. Is there a certain wattage I need to look for in a light kit? I don't know a ton about electrical, but know how to install. I never understand what kind of load a battery can handle or things like that.

Thanks,

Nick

Here are some pics of my $20 lights (the wiring kit includes a separate switch) Mine are mounted on the canopy of my cab, but could be on the ROPS or anywhere. P.S. They are halogen DCP_0953.JPGDCP_0954.JPGDCP_0955.JPG

I found these bullet terminals at auto zone for $3. They fit perfectly into the female bullet terminals for the work lights on my 4310.

LED is good - be careful if using 55W H-3 work lights, a couple of those will melt your light switch. I put a relay in and have 4 HID worklamps on the canopy / ROPS. I then unplugged the headlights from under the hood as all they do is cause glare from hitting the loader.
