I thought yall would like the pictures of the landfill dad and i run at work. We used to run it for Belont homes but they are out of business now and we are closing it for the EPA. These are just a few pics i got back today. Im running a 762 JD and dads on a D5B Cat. we have to put a 3 foot cover on the six inch rubish cover there. Heres one pic for size comparison.

Dads been there 8 years and started the landfill. Ive worked there 0ne and a half years. I did start running the scraper on the weekends for dad when i was 14. Then after highschool we did alot of work in south MS for there display lots. This was my baby. This friday is my last day there. Iwill do land maintenece on the side for the EPA there.
Here I am trying to cross a berm we biul on the upper level after we got the right cover now we have to put 2 feet of cover on this slope. I have to stop on the top of the berm and strat dumping so i can spread the soil. THen dad comes in and side dresses.

Here i am stuck again lol. Ive pushed my bowl into the ground to try to rais e the cab and steer on to more packed sand. Topsoils is about 6 to 10 inches here and clay is about 4 feet and the rest is sand. Im about 30 feet above grade as we fill hollows. All the soil you see is from a bank and a hill we get cover from. The berm im crossing is a straight drop pff about 2 pr 3 ffet and i cant raise my bowl over it. Dad is behingd me on the dozer to see if im gonna need help.

Aint gonna make it. Ive ejected enough dirt and wormed around till my back side will sit down and im raised up to signal dad im not moving. The horizontal pivot has tilted me left the right wheel is about 2 feet higher. Ill raise the bol and dad will give me a shove. Then ill be ok and make the next round. Im not exactly sure on the capaity but its around 10 yards struct. That even with the sides heaped is a bit more.

Dad rescued me and im loose. whn i brake over the erm and get footing igot to neutral and then tor reverse to hold my self on the hill.I have no brakes well the return spring broke so there wired shut. Theyll lock and stay down but its just simlper to not use them. THe torque converter will hold the scraper back when i get the bottom of the bowl rolle back ill proceed and it will have the sam effect as a Box blade on the dirt. it will fall ou in a bil lump for dad to work after i repeat the process 5 times. Ill have to dump another load at the end of this one to finish the bottom. I only get stuck on the top. Ill do this five times then dad will dress that section while i get another load. You see where i have to turn at the green there is a drop off where i dont need to go cause s deep and wet. Ill try to have some more pics later. The rest of the Land fill looks like a park.

No brakes ??

Just drop your bucket. It will stop you faster than the brakes and is a very usual procedure going down a steep hill with a scraper. You can leave the apron closed.

Looks like you got the bucket rams fully extended. Keeps them front wheels off the ground.

Yes Egon that the way we stop but on dumping like we have to hold scraper there for a minute the dirt that has been dumped allready will hold it for a second. when the bowl is raised to heap it ill loose my brake. That scraper has seen better times used to you could just use low gear to dump it. We ve packed all cylinders and put in new pumps. Ime leaning towards a collapsed line somewhere.
I lowered my brake at the trailer plant afew years ago one the scraper to slow don for a new home they rolled out. I found a crack in a asphault and removed 3 feet of it.
Most of the scrpers ive run i always block the brakes off to save them for road travel. I get folks all the tim to ask me how can i use it good as the brake but it just kinda grows one you. Last monday i moved 1200 yards of material with the one scraper in an 8 hour day. I m gonna really miss that place. Every day for the lasdt 8 years ads been there himself and then i ook over for him when he was having heart surgery. I stayed and its grown on me.

Yes i did that before i swung the cab over to one side to lower the drive wheeles on more compacted sand to get a better grip. Its eaier to raise the cab then swing ansted of trying to swing in the rut. Some times it works but that sand was a bit dry. The first time i went off it the bowl was full and when i went to raise the cab it jus made the tail raise. After i got shed of 3 yards of material it wuld hold the tail down and raise the cab. An ejector scraper like a Cat can push the load out its self the paddle wheel has to let some of go out of the bottom with a sliding plate that is attached to the half ejector.
