Working In and Around Poison Ivy

um, hi!
So, I'm in MA and in PI heaven.
Dougster, you might want to go back and treat any area where you 'tilled' turned up, with salt or round-up. Otherwise,it'll come back. I've tilled areas up to 3x with roundup as a solvent before I saw it not come back...

i've found, where ever you turn up PI and don't kill it, it comes back great. Like any plant that's been pruned, it sends out the message for more root and top end growth asap... thing is, pi sends it out on steroids....

Also, I"ve seen PI in MA withstand THREE TIMES treatment w/ roundup before it dies back.. It's crazy stuff.

Good luck, i'm in ma so if you want to compare notes, pls pm me..:)

Oh, I totally believe you! :) But as I've explained before... and I really do hate to put it this way... but it's simply not my problem mon! :p The lady paid me to plow over the PI (and everything else out there) with fill to level and even out the area... and then spread out a layer of screened loam over top of the fill... no more or less. If the PI comes back stronger than ever, that is her problem. This was not a PI abatement contract; rather, this was essentially a lawn prep contract. It just happened to be done over an area that was heavily covered with poison ivy.

Well, so far I am still alive and no funny itches or skin problems appearing yet. :) Plus I am still breathing. Other than the insane heat and a bit of a sunburn, it was not so bad.

Gotta go back to finish up the job tomorrow, but most of the highest PI exposure potential is behind me now. The rest is mainly leveling and raking-out the loam... and then soapy, high pressure cleanup of the tractor, attachments and 3-point implements. The exposed "anti-C" clothes are all getting thrown away!

Just like I thought... a piece of cake!!!
