Working out the numbers on the tractor :)

Hi all,

Im sitting in th efield with the diesel tank draining in the background so I can clean the fiilter in the tank. I really suspect this is the culprit for the tractor stopping all the time, especially as it is taking for ever for the fuel to drain out.

Anyway, I decided to find and clean off the serial numbers on the tractor. Hopefully someone can give me some more info....

Serial number at bottom of battery in front of gear levers... 881610 M1
Under this number is very small digits stamped into the block.... 20 E 5.6 (I'm almost sure this is correct as it was quite worn)

Serial number on the engine block.... 212 UA 180658

Still waiting on tax book so any other details are quite sketchy. My insurance changed the registration when I gave them the reg on the tractor to 75 D 1975 (Irish registration system), so Im presuming it was manufactured in 1974/1975 ish...... but could be completely wrong with this assumption

Update on this old post. The original log book arrived 3 years later so I am currently having it put in my name. Tractor being rebuilt at the moment. It was manufactured in 1974 but sold and registered in 1975 so was one of the first round of the square axel models.

The guy I bought it off told me he would get it and I bought it with some trust as we have dealt with him in the past with other equipment and tractors but then he stopped answering my calls about it and I thought he had pulled a quick one on me! Then our tax laws changed here in Ireland last year and I got onto him again and he said he had just found it as he had to clear out his truck to have it tested and certified under the new rules and found the book for the tractor on the floor so he sent it to me. I get to keep the original reg as the tax office was going to take it off the system due to lost documents and I would have had to have a new reg number. Needless to say I was a happy bunny!!
