I work 12 hours shifts during the night, and I can't sleep during the day. I don't have time very often to read at work, but if you ever see someone signed on at 3:30 am, it's usually me! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I feel for ya Andy, I used to do the night thing too. I never did sleep very well. Seemed like a zombie all the time.

My job is Internet related so I'm on and off most of the day. It goes with the territory. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm working on several different projects, but I'm starting to feel like an old man, so I take frequent breaks. I like to say that I'm taking my retirement a half hour at a time. I just completely emptied the building I'm remodeling in order to get the ceiling refinished and lay the new floor, so I moved my motor home to the back of the building and ran the cable internet connection out to it. It's now my "office". I come in and check the stock ticker, an SCCA production racing forum, and TBN. Then, I get back to work for a while.

In the evenings, I have a choice. I can stay in the family room while my better half falls asleep watching TV and listen to my nearly 100 year old Mother-in-law babble with senile dementia, or I can bury myself in the computer, with either C-Span or classical music in the background.

After 30 years designing and testing computers systems, my job went away /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Now, I am just trying to be a farmer. But I can not walk past my computer without logging on and checking email and news. Yes, I understand that I have a compulsive disorder..... but I love it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm sitting here waiting for an instrument to finish collecting some data which I will then process on this computer. In the old days, I would have had to submit the data to a mainframe computer and check on it the next day for further work. Now I can process the data in the background while I surf the net and try to beat spider solitaire....all on this computer. I guess that's progress.

Depends on how busy I am.

At my last job, I had a lot more time (and bandwidth) to visit. Hmmmm.... maybe that's why I got laid off????? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

With my new job, we have periods of downtime between phases of our projects plus doing management reports and dealing with "issues". Doncha just love "issues"!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

So, working is relative.
