A plain New Holland Workmaster 120
Well, fixed the rear window latch issue on a brand new New Holland Workmaster 120, but earlier this month started having a Code 3999 show up when I start the tractor. I cleared it by multiple restarts the first time. Could not clear it when using the tractor last night. So, a brand new New Holland has another issue (since delivery earlier this month) and is going to have to take an expensive trailer ride back to the dealership so they can read the ECM with their specialty software. Glad warranty covers that.

I am legit starting to question my purchase. I don't own a trailer (yet) and sure as hell am not OK with this kind of stuff nickling and diming me to death after the warranty expires. Not crazy about the downtime, either, nor am I very happy with New Holland right now. I will give them and the dealer the opportunity to fix.

Quality control at New Holland should have caught the window latch issue. Not impressed with quality of interior plastic on this machine, either--some cosmetic issues on the right panel near the rear of the cab.

Having the same code with our T4.90. There is nothing I have found anywhere to tell me what the 3999 code is. I've found if you turn the key directly to the start position without stopping at the on position No Code. If I need the glow plugs I turn it to on and start it throws the code I let it warm up shut down and after about 2-3 minutes restart going right to the start position no code. I ended up buying a laptop interface and software to work on it (clear Codes mostly DEF Codes and derate issues) as it was to expensive to have dealer come to our farm and much more to ship it to the dealer along with at least a week of down time each time it went in. I wish I had kept our old Ford 6640!! We could made it completely rebuilt new again and money in the bank with what we have spent on this"new" tractor!! From the loader mounts breaking away to DEF problems to clutch cable problems and many other issues it doesn't end.

Thank you for this. I'm going to look into getting the interface and software you mentioned. If this is simple then, yes, it is NUTS to trailer a tractor in (I don't own a trailer) for this.

I'm with you...too much of this sensor/code stuff and I'm going to sell this equipment and find something old and just have it rebuilt/learn how to do it myself. My biggest fear with the old stuff is frames that have deteriorated. The rest is probably reparable. I just don't have the time to do the work myself...which is why I bought new/with warranty. In a perfect world, by the time warranty expires, I'll be retired and knowledgeable on older equipment <haha>.

On followup, tractor is back at dealer for the code. They found a loose connection at the fuel filter. Tightened it but there was still a small leak, so they ordered a new gasket. Hopefully will fix the issue. Not sure how a tractor with 7 hours on the clock has this happen, but I guess rockets have hydrogen leaks on the launchpad all the time...
