Anyone familiar enough with this tractor's electrical system to have an opinion on possible consequences of accidentally hooking the battery up backwards?

Harry,

Usually control modules for your engine and dash are reverse polarity protected, however external relays with freewheeling diodes that are not controlled by these modules are not.

Are there any symptoms or blown fuses?

I really don't know. Have not yet seen the tractor, just getting this information from the tractor's new owner. He's claiming someone has, at one time hooked the battery up backwards, possibly damaging something. The tractor has been parked in a barn ever since, without a battery. He said he would get a battery, try to hook it it up, see what happens, then report back. As far as I know, this series tractor has very little other than the alternator that might be damaged, but who knows. Safety module or "operator aggravation circuit" maybe, but not much else? I'm just kind of fishing here, to see what pops up, thinking maybe some else may have done that at one time and has a story to tell.
